Trail running 25:00 [3] 3.0 mi (8:20 / mi)
shoes: New Balance 1080v4

Digley. Much recovered.

Tuesday Feb 21 #

8 AM

Note

Golf. Pro's mid week comp. 30 Stableford points (14/16).
A couple of excuses. Desperately trying to get accustomed to wearing contact lens so playing in one for first time. Secondly my right hand grip adversely affected by damage caused by Sunday's fall. Or maybe I just played badly.
5 PM

Trail running 27:00 [3] 3.0 mi (9:00 / mi)
shoes: New Balance 1080v4

Digley. Still tired after the weekend.

Monday Feb 20 #

Note
(rest day)

An easy week is in order.
Worst damage from yesterday appears to be to my right thumb and index finger (as a result of a fall) making gripping a pen awkward.
5 PM

Gym 20:00 [2]

Garage circuits.

Sunday Feb 19 #

10 AM

Orienteering race 1:32:50 [4] 8.0 mi (11:36 / mi)
shoes: VJ Integrator (ex Lulu)

Tim Watkins Trophy. Whitbarrow.
11.3km, 445m. Mass start with some gaffling/ butterflies.
Back to glasses today as I interpreted the forecast as dry. Also didn't want to compromise my long vision on the treacherous limestone. Unfortunately it was persistent drizzle so glasses were useless and I had to go for the naked eye/follow technique.
Ran Vet Men's course but ended up running in a pack with W40's and M21's: Kim B and George Stevens plus Quentin and Duncan Harris. Quentin lead most of the way as far as #11 but then went walkabout. Duncan's superior speed showed on the final butterfly in the open and he pulled away for the win. I did the gentlemanly thing and let Kim take me on the run in. Great fun and very good training. Most importantly, I think my body is still in one piece.

Road bike 1:45:00 [2] 22.0 mi (4:46 / mi)

Easy ride with Lulu. Top road round to Cumberworth and Shelley. Kirkburton, Storthes Hall, Thurstonland and back via New Mill.
6 PM

Orienteering race 28:17 [4] 2.5 mi (11:19 / mi)
shoes: Innov8 X-Talon (3)

Northern Night Champs, Knapton.
Blue course, 3.7km, 180m.
I need a section on AP to record which eyesight solution I used. This evening it was a single contact lens again. Worked well but there wasn't much detail to read on the map. Long vision pretty good though. I also reverted to baseplate compass as I feel more confident at night taking an accurate bearing on occasion. Now I know what solution to use next weekend.
No idea why the courses were so short. Results:
