1. 380m 3:57 4 +54 30% 80.7 45 10:23   380m 3:57 4 +54 30% 10:23 conservative - trail up to hill, got high and had to come down. should have just run up reentrant an in.
2. 410m 4:20 4 +1:29 52% 78.1 30 10:34   790m 8:17 4 +2:23 40% 10:29 tried to avoid climb by staying low - too low.... too slow
3. 900m 8:43 2 +5 1% 103.6 9:41   1690m 17:00 2 +1:59 13% 10:03 clean and straight to trail junction - saw Phil B off to the left. followed small trail to stonewall, then straight from there. Punched in just before Michael Hughes who started 2min before me.. Cool... now to pad that gain - or at least not lose that 2 min advantage!!
4. 860m 10:53 4 +2:30 30% 87.5 30 12:39   2550m 27:53 4 +2:54 12% 10:56 a little thrashing in green, uphill into broad reentrant - saw Peter Anderson above (thought he was on Red, but actually was on Blue) above wall junction and straight - wound up just west of control, corrected quickly and punched in just behind Michael
5. 140m 1:27 1 -6 -6% 106.9 10:21   2690m 29:20 3 +2:48 11% 10:54 straight and clean, Michael went right but still punched ahead of me and got away in front.
6. 710m 10:19 5 +4:20 72% 71.0 1:15 1:25 14:31   3400m 39:39 4 +6:32 20% 11:39 north of marsh, then along slope - through rock cluster (dumb move, should have gone below). looking for reentrant beyond small hill but wound up searching just SW of circle until I noted boulders there, and realized where I was
7. 300m 3:48 3 +40 21% 92.4 20 12:40   3700m 43:27 4 +6:16 17% 11:44 straight, south of small pond but hooked around too much too left and in reentrant N of small hill - realized the error quickly and back up and over
8. 130m 1:45 3 +55 110% 69.5 15 13:27   3830m 45:12 3 +7:08 19% 11:48 drifted a little left, but corrected and in
9. 120m 1:39 5 +20 25% 81.1 20 13:45   3950m 46:51 3 +7:15 18% 11:51 drifted left again, winding up under cliff near wall, corrected again
10. 410m 5:28 3 +6 2% 99.1 20 13:20   4360m 52:19 4 +10:14 24% 11:59 straight line, just left of line using contour features and large rock enroute. climbed over long knoll too far N of flag and had to come back
11. 330m 4:42 5 +2:03 77% 65.7 35 56 14:14   4690m 57:01 4 +12:17 27% 12:09 got off on right side of spur above, momentarily confused and came back
12. 220m 3:21 5 +1:20 66% 67.8 35 15:13   4910m 1:00:22 4 +13:37 29% 12:17 more careful now in the technical - clean
13. 200m 2:20 3 +35 33% 91.2 11:40   5110m 1:02:42 3 +14:12 29% 12:16 another cautious but clean leg
14. 450m 6:09 4 +2:12 56% 82.3 1:00 13:40   5560m 1:08:51 4 +16:24 31% 12:22 contoured N of hillside, then along stonewall to saddle and down along east slope of hill to flag - clean but perhaps not the straightest route
15. 530m 6:55 4 +2:19 50% 83.2 13:03   6090m 1:15:46 4 +18:43 33% 12:26 opted for the fast downhill run to the east of the pond picking up trail rather than risking the green/marshy stuff to the west. left trail and climbed over knoll to find inlet/marsh was one big pond - ran/swam right on through and cleanly up to flag.
16. 410m 4:34 4 +50 22% 82.4 30 11:08   6500m 1:20:20 4 +19:32 32% 12:21 right of line, across trail along stonewall and then downhill - wound up in depression S of control circle but knew where I was and up and over to correct depression
17. 220m 3:34 5 +1:26 67% 70.1 1:30 31 16:12   6720m 1:23:54 4 +20:58 33% 12:29 wound up high - mistook small boulder S of circle for the large one and looked higher still before heading downhill again
18. 320m 2:40 4 +35 28% 88.8 8:20   7040m 1:26:34 4 +21:33 33% 12:17 straight, falling in stream enroute - no one in field ahead of me, running along edge looking for flag
19. 130m 19 3 +2 12% 94.7 2:26   7170m 1:26:53 4 +21:34 33% 12:07 Michael H in the chute just ahead of me - I had managed to preserve my 2 minute gain early on. Also edged Doug G by a couple minutes to get my first ever M-40 win. Overall a clean run, a few minor bobbles, but less humidity allowed me to see the woods (and map) and I was able to maintain a reasonably good pace throughout the run.
