Race Evaluation

CNYO A meet: Classic - Blue

jjcote

1. Left around the marsh to avoid getting stuck in thick stuff.
2. Not keeping very good contact through here, but recognized the hill just before the control, and had an easy attack from there, no harm done.
3. Out to the trail and turned left on it, but it was the wrong trail (too far south), which I realized quickly and went W to the long N-S trail. The woods looked okay, so I left the trail right away and went straight at the control. Ground got kind of mushy, and Ididn't have a bridge to cross the stream on, so staying on the trail longer would probably have been better.
4.
5. W though field, picked up trail in second field, backtracked a few steps at the big trail to get to the trail that led to the control. Would probably have been faster to go directly N at the beginning instead.
6. S of the lake. Missed slighly on the attack, seeing #7 off to my right before I saw #6.
7.
8. Misread map slighly and went down to the big trail, attacked from the S. Not such a bad route, though.
9.
10. A little wobbly along the way, but kept correctling before I did much damage.
11.
12. Went up one reentrant early, and suspected I was doing so, no big deal to hop over spur. Went slowly on this leg because I was walking and eating some goo.
13.
14. Trail around to the left.
15. Straight.
16. Trails to left, then along spur. Sketchy control feature, but didn't lose any time finding it.
17. NW through woods, picked up trail in field and followed it N to corner, then pushed through the last bit of yellow, and the comparatively fine white woods to the trail, and all trails from there, S of lake. Looking back at my splits, I suspect that it would have been better to have gone E from the control, back the way I came, the NE to pick up the trail.
18. Moving pretty fast from this point on, motivated to get out of the wet clothes. Trails right of line, went through meadow at the end (this one wasn't so bad).
19. Run, run, run.
20.
21. Left of the lake.
