Race Evaluation

World Masters Games: M50A+M40B

1. No attack point
Having failed two previous events, I was terrified of blowing 1st control & I did. Walking by bearing only got me messed up in trails extra to map. The whole day was saved when Randy ran past & I latched on.
2. Watched Randy leave 2.
5. My favourite leg, a long run cross a trail which marked the top of the map, SE after third swamp, caught runners ahead of me.
6. simple E & S round swamp
7. started SE on cross-swamp trail but had difficulties coming out on control side of swamp. It was green.
9. What should have been an enjoyable long run was meltdown across the same portion of map as 1st control. Eventually found med tent at high elevation & came down cross swamp from there.
10. Another failure, I actually asked veterans to locate me on their map while meeting at a control that wasn't mine. What a cheater.
12. In this case, my trail run around the swamp may have been longer than a slog through the swamp.
13. I took far too long on what should have been a straight bearing run that I watched others take as they caught me.
14. The final controls were all-out straight down hill runs.
15. Just make sure the control I hit is my own.
F. As spectators, we'd already watched runners spill down this part of the map.
