IndyBass's comments - by leg
| 1. | This first leg allowed no time to "get into" the map. I hadn't been on a map in the woods for 2.5 months, and so navigating a very technical area right out of the gate was pretty jarring. I simplified the detail as much as I could, and made sure that I knew when I was crossing the high ground (where the n/s trail was, although I don't think I saw the trail). I drifted too far south in approaching the ridge, and ended up south of the control. I continued east and confirmed the large ditch system, then came back and started north, finding the bag. | |

| 3. | Ran east, skipped a spur, and came up the next spur, passing #5 on the way. This was a pretty slow climb, but found the hunter's stand at the top with no trouble. | |

| 6. | Decided to climb out of the reentrant and then follow the ridge top east and then north to the control. On my way, though, I started visually fixating on #8, and for a short time, was operating as if that was my next control. Thankfully, this error didn't cause me to go in a direction that I didn't intend to go in the first place, but it was a bit unnerving. | |

| 10. | Leg pace is a little slow here, but I can't remember why that should be. I don't remember trouble on this leg. Maybe just tired? | |
| 11. | Did a good job here making sure of my location crossing the final ditch system before attacking to #11. I made sure to differentiate the ditch junction from the ditch/stream junction before continuing, and didn't spend a lot of time doing so. Ended up spiking the control! | |

| 14. | Spiked! Really pleased with myself through the technical terrain. | |
| 15. | Suffered a painful right ankle turn while running the hard dirt road after exiting the woods. | |
