US Team Trials: Day 2: Blue/Green

1. Headed into the woods immediately, but hit the trail on the N. No big deal, made for a fine attack anyway.
2. Too far left, got on wrong side of reentrant, not a problem.
3. Headed straight, the green looked nasty, so I stayed low on the hillside to keep to the white woods, near the veg bdy. Crossed the road, up through the green, tough work climbing up to the right place, plus I hadn't looked at teh clues and thought I was looking for a reentrant. I found a control in a reentrant at the E edge of the circle, then turned around and went up on the spur. Couldn't see a clearing on the map or in the terrain. Passed by Balter here (3 min).
4. Intended to go more or less straight, but suddenly found myself out at the power line. With Balter, who appeared to be coming back from having crossed it! Went up too soon, one reentrant early, and got to a clearing, but no flag. Doh! Down across the reentrant (which was very thick and nasty!) to the correct clearing.
5. N to trail, attacked from junction, but went too far left, up and down a couple of spurs, which added climb and hesitation.
6. Hooked into the saddle from the NE.
7. Trail up and around to the right, read my way in nicely from the junction.
8. Read my way up and down the big rentrants.
9. A little too far right leaving the control, but corrected quickly and hit the trail at the bend. Smoothly in from there, missed a smidge to the left, corrected, went through the depression without seeing the flag, decided I was lost, headed SW to relocate. Wyatt came though as I was doing this, and on my second visit to the depression I found the control.
10.
11. SW to trail, then W-S-W on trails, headed into the woods after trail crossed reentrant, navigated perfectly to the feature, didn't see a flag. The contours made it look like maybe there was another reentrant just to my right, so I looked up there, saw nothing, came back to the original reentrant and found the flag just before Eddie arrived.
12. Too far left leaving control, not such a big problem, crossed second trail just S of depression, straight to the control just after Eric arrived from my right.
13. Straight as Eric pulled away, he missed by a few meters to the left but corrected right away, going to where I was already headed.
14. Too far right, crossed trail on the smaller spur, next thing I knew I was on the trail on the W, the way I went to #1. Navigated in fine from there.
15.
16. Too far left, hit the big trail at the bend, and took a couple of steps in the wrong direction before my addled brain realized where I was.
