Race Evaluation

Western States + Intercollegiate Championships: Yellow2

JaxonRickel

1. I took the road.
2. Did not read control description
I rant to the road junction and took a bearing from there. The big problem that I had was that when I quickly looked at my control desprictions paper I saw the start description and thought that I was the first control's description, and because of that I thought that the first control's description was for the second control. The only problem was that on the map the control was actually on a spur, but when I got to where it I thought it was I didn't find it. So then I made a really dumb move and started to run around in the re-entrants. I got lucky and saw the control while I was running up the re-entrant south of it for the fourth time.
3. I followed the flagged route.
4. I took the re-entrant, slide under the fence, and ran in the general direction of the control and found it easily because of the road-fence intersection.
5. I got onto the road and followed it untill the junction. Then I took a bearing and followed it.
6. I ran down the spur and to the water holes where I found the control a couple feet beyond the a mound and dirt.
7. I ran up the re-entrant and found the tree.
8. I jumped the fence, ran down the hill, got into the wash, and became slightly confused to where the cliff was suposed to be before finding the control.
9. I took the road untill I decided to climb the hill instead of running around it to the re-entrant. It sved me a lot of time.
10. I ran down the hill to the road where I found the control.
11. I followed the road, saw the mini re-entrant, and spotted the control.
12. I got pretty confused at all of the re-entrants and other controls that were in the area but I never veared to far of course and found finally found the control.
13. I sprinted to the tree.
F. I sprinted to the fininish.
