randy's comments - by leg

1. trails, off junct
2. Time Lost: 01:00did not see first n/s trail. Never saw rocks either. Came in the backdoor off second n/s trail.
3. Time Lost: 01:00Decided just to head for the lake and attack. Hit those contour features too far north. Should navigate more carefully. Worrying only about running, which was the goal.
4. Go to the spur. Tenative due to poor viz. Ignored all trails -- had enough of unmapped trails yesterday, game plan today was to block them out
5. Tenative again. Hit another unmapped trail, but was it before or after the mapped one.
6. Finally a clean leg at a reasonable pace ...
7. ... ditto
8. Did not like map
Time Lost: 01:30
off 4 way junct. Considered the safe attack off the junct half a contour off, but I'm agressive. Hit an unmapped or covered by circle pit-like feature in the circle, which was streamered. Had to treasure hunt in the thick stuff. A little miffed because either the map, or description didn't seem right.
9.
10. Here's where lack of training hurts. Thru the green rather than around near the end of the leg. Should be mapped medium IMHO ...

13. Bad route choice
Time Lost: 02:00
I didn't even see the road run! Rust never sleeps. Trail, thru green, other road, then trail. Attack from this trail worse as there is no white woods to speak of ...
14. Bad map reading
Time Lost: 00:25
Boomed right. Think there is an extra contour feature. What's a rootstock, and what's a dot knoll.
15. Picked up trail. Is there another unmapped trail in there?
16. Time Lost: 00:15Got on the wrong trail but quick relocation. Is there a trail on the map, but not in the terrain here?
17. Took the left route, which involves an extra 1.5 contours of climb ...
18. Another sloppy race. But I was concentrating on running more than usual. Best run at this place, actually, which usually gives me fits ...
