Race Evaluation

DVOA Valley Forge Fatlands: Green

abullitt's comments - by leg

1. Tired from square dancing yesterday and sick with cold/fever - do best I can, while I can!
2. New part of map to me - cool!
3.
4. Bad route choice
Did not follow plan
Time Lost: 03:00
Planned to come from road/trail, but changed plan for no good reason and followed white forest band (which was full of downed trees), which meant I had to climb up/down berm unnecessarily. ARGH!!!
5. Lacked concentration
Lacked confidence
Time Lost: 01:30
That berm climb sapped me - lost concentration on pace count so started looking early for the ridges, and went slowly. Once I recognized them, no problem
6. Time Lost: 00:30Felt a little tired on this leg
7. Tired
Time Lost: 02:00
Ran trail out from 6, but died in the heat of the field, could only run parts of remaining trail, hesitated a bit on final approach to control, but direction was dead on.
8. Time Lost: 00:15Definitely tired now - clumped up along stream, but ground condition wouldn't have allowed much running anyway.
9. Tired
Time Lost: 02:30
Coughing kicking up. Took northern trail route choice to spend less time in sun. Executed without error, but couldn't run much
10. Time Lost: 00:15Back in woods - ran most of this leg and nailed control.
11. Tired
Time Lost: 00:30
Forced myself to run halfway, but was in full sun and couldn't sustain it.
12.

Total Time Lost - 00:10:30
