Race Evaluation

Gay City: Green

Charlie

1. Including 1:48 copying (and probably at least 30 seconds trying to stuff the map in the bag). Saw Gail at the control.
2. Pretty straight, cut in from trail at lone pine. Saw Ken Walker running back toward me. Pit showed up a little soon.
3. Ken caught back up and passed me at the junction. I went left and contoured, while he went straight on the trail to the ridgetop and went down the ridge. He got way ahead of me.
4. Easy. Ken is still in sight.
5. Very slow - went down too close to the marsh and had some thick going. Went in high to the control and ran right by it. Then turned back and stood next to it for a while before I saw it.
6. On the trail until I thought I saw the faint trail on the left, but it disappeared, so maybe I wasn't on it. Saw Tony Maniscalco, and started going down hill too far, but turned back and saw the boulder.
7. This was weird. Left around the marsh, attempting to cut straight south to the trail, but kept drifting, drifting until I ended up at the tip of the big marsh to the SW, right near the trail. How did I do this? Anyway, it took a while to sink in where I was, but then a pretty easy time finding the control, although it showed up way too early, I think.
8. NE, and very slow, coming out near the stone wall corner. Straight out N would have been better. Across the power line and up the hill.
9. Out to the power line and up to the control.
F.
