Race Evaluation

BAOC Tahoe 3-day: Short Red

Cristina

1. Better start, since I had learned from yesterday - terrain and map weren't so weird to me.
2. Bobbled this one. Need to read the descriptions more closely.
3. Spiked, probably because the boulder' s so big.
4. +03:00The control was farther into the woods than I thought it would be from the descriptions. Just based on the location of the circle though I should have spent a lot less time wandering around looking for it.
5. No problems, basically followed open area.
6. No mistakes, careful running.
7. +02:00I thought I was in the white stuff but the "rough open" looked liked forest so I was west of the control looking for it...
8. +00:30I took a more southerly route than intended and was confused by the small trail that I hit.
9. +01:30No attack point - I just ran and I lucked out that I just happened to end up within viewing distance (to the south).
10. Can't remember whether this was luck or skill. Not much in the way of features.
11. Short leg, I just ran straight again. I was feeling good at this point, and I suppose with this short legs you can do that.
12. Headed out hard to the trail, then read more slowly; tipped off by large boulder that I was S.
13. I picked up a fellow mediocre orienteer at 12 and I actually stormed through the this one. Felt good.
14. No prob, too short for that...
15. +03:00I was really confused by the map on this one...I'm still confused sitting here looking at it from my desk. I think I was in too much of a hurry to finish.
16. There was nothing to this and I should have been going 100%.
F. I need to have more confidence that I'm going the right way, esp at the end like this where there's no doubt.
