Race Evaluation

Hong Kong Orienteering Ranking League 2015 (Sprint #4): ME, WE

1. R +00:10Chose the right-hand route, and executed the plan perfectly. But upon further evaluation, it appears the optimal route is on the left.
2. P R +00:29Slow map reading and anticipation in the middle of the route by the fountains. Picked a much longer route around, then stopped too early at the wrong control before unnecessarily jumping over fences in search of the right control. Major mistake here.
3. P D P +00:16Perhaps still recovering from previous mistake. Also could not make sense of the mapped feature (map problem). Just needed a better, simpler plan of attack.
4. +00:02Slight hesitation before taking control. Also may not have optimum route taking the path through shelter.

7. +00:08Don't sure how I lost so much time here other than being slowed by the fences. Wonder if the left-hand route is faster?
8. R +00:36Had an ok plan taking the left-middle route, except for the mental lapse in the middle of the leg. Started looking ahead at the map and thinking I needed to go to #9 instead, so changed my plan and went to #9....
9. R +00:06As I had just come from #9, I simply retraced my steps, failing to notice the quicker route bypassing the stairs and using the ramp. In honesty, the underpass as mapped is hardly noticeable, and "passing point" overprint only created more confusion.
