Race Evaluation

North American Champs: M21/Blue Day 2

tdgood's comments - by leg

1. This time I asked at the start if I had to go to the start triangle. Answer was no. It would be nice if they told everyone. Around the green over to reentrant. Taking it slow.
2. Time Lost: 00:20Crossed first reentrant and was drawn off by green runner.
3.
4. Followed the stream around. Probably quicker to go over the top.
5. Time Lost: 01:00Around reentrant avoiding green to trail. Cut off of trail way to soonand went through all the slash. Should have gone all the way to the field.

12. Final aproach was to far to the left. Saw control and ran over to it since there was a blue runner there. It was the red control in the depression. Then was high and missed the control. Jon Torrance was running away. Gone by the time I got to the control.
13.
14. Looked for water as crossed the trail. Never saw it. @#$@ Water should be at the controls. If you approached from the slight west you could see the control from a ways off.
15. Skirted out of bounds area. Mike Smith and someone else pass me.
16.
17. Circle marsh to the right. Still with Mike Smith and other guy.
18. Decide to take the high route. Mike Smith also going that way. Mike slowly pulls away.
19. Mike gone.
20. Jon Torrance catches me again. He must have goofed somewhere.
21. Time Lost: 06:00I spazzed. I wanted to run around the hill and avoid some climb. Big mistake. I end up running 2/3 of the way back to #17. Finally force myself to correct. Eventually get to trail and take trail/fields to control. Run up wrong knoll at control. To green to see correct control.

24. Time Lost: 01:00Stopped before the fields to make a donation of fertilizer to the woods.

27. Starting to worry about cramping going up steep reentrants.
