Race Evaluation

Trout Brook Valley WCOC Meet: Blue

Charlie

1. Trail to stream crossing, up spur to stone wall corner
2. Pretty straight, could see it from a ways off
3. +02:00NW to narrow N/S trail through yellow, N to trail junction, straight on larger trail to bend, then N, but got off to the left into the parallel reentrant, had to climb over the cliffs to the E. Saw Jim Henderson at the control
4. +00:30Pretty straight. After last big marsh, straight E to pick up trail at stone wall, followed trail to top, then got on top of the big cliff and down on N end, had to backtrack
5. +00:15Bounced off trail to the R, then climbed up spur just beyond and had to back up
6. N to trail, stayed with trails to nearest point SE of control, on compass. Saw trail to NE on way in.
7. +00:30On compass, and going fine, but veered right because hill looked so small, corrected back quickly
8. Trail to corner by stone walls, went down to stream and attacked from below
9. A little R of line. J-J went by like a shot! Took a hard fall 50M short of control
10. Under cliff and picked up intermittent trail N of marsh. On compass from bend in stone wall.
11. +05:00S between marshes, then mostly S across long marsh system and up reentrant befoer dark green area and out to first trail. I was a little too far S and decided to climb over the green hill and the cliffs. Yuck! Slogged across to other trail. Got a little off when I jumped off to follow stone walls, but not too bad
12. Trail. Couldn't see the feature on the map.
13. Along stone wall
14. Pretty straight. Got a little left of line, but cliff on knoll just before control was very distinctive
15. Diagonal across walls, using trails where it seemed good. Attacked from bend in trail 150 M NNE of control
16. Trail to wall, diagonal across walls
17. Hard fall on slippery rocks halfway there. Dropped a little low to make sure I didn't miss it.
18. Straight and picked up trail
F. Down hill through the brambles. Folks who stayed on trail seemed to have more fun.
