Bad distance judgement Hesitated Time Lost: 00:10 | Stopped short. Expected to see the control sooner as I came down the reentrant, because I misjudged the distance. |

Bad map reading Confused parallel features Hesitated Time Lost: 00:20 | Stopped and looked around in the clearing higher up on the spur. |

Did not like map Time Lost: 00:15 | Used cliff on same contour in reentrant as my attackpoint, but I ended up significantly too high, so I think the map is wrong. The boulder was invisible from above--basically it was a tiny cliff. |

Did not like map Time Lost: 00:10 | I had to stay a lot farther left than I expected to stay out of the green--clearly mismapped. I didn't hesitate too long though and mostly kept moving okay. |

Hesitated Unused to map Time Lost: 00:10 | Stopped right before the control, because I didn't see the feature. I should have known at this point in the course that rock features are invisible from any distance on this map. |

Lacked confidence Hesitated Time Lost: 00:10 | I stopped just above the control, because I expected to see either a marker or something that looked more like a cliff. I still wasn't getting the map--pretty dense of me--must be mentally tired, maybe from so much driving in the last couple of days. |

Bad map reading Bad compass work Hesitated Time Lost: 01:00 | Stopped on the spur before the control. I was 75 meters farther to the right on the spur than I thought I was, so nothing made sense when I looked down into the reentrant ahead of me for the control. I saw neither rock nor marker. I inched forward anyway and finally saw the big cliffs and scree slope above the control. |

Bad map reading Bad compass work Disturbed by others Time Lost: 00:30 | I went very far to the left, crossing the fence and climbing an extra one or two contours en route to the trail. I did this because I was trying to run away from Rex Winterbottom, who was right behind me going into control 13. As a result, he almost overtook me at #14 but made a small miss going in. |

Bad compass work Disturbed by others Time Lost: 00:20 | Again, I got careless because Rex was behind me, and I ran off down the hill without being careful enough with my compass. I swooped too far to the right, then eased to a jog, scoped things out, and corrected. |

Bad map reading Hesitated Unused to map Time Lost: 00:10 | Stopped on the road, because the large, paved walkways were mapped as small trails, despite being similar in appearance to the road that they joined. Also, I was confused not to see the flowing stream on the map; it was shown as a deep erosion gully (thick brown line). |
