Race Evaluation

Blue Hills Traverse: Traverse

j-man

1. Had an inclination which way to go, but it wasn't optimal to run up the hill and past the ruin like I did. Like everyone else, missed left and low, but figured it out before anyone else.
2. Kept Ross et al to my right, but got off the line closer to the control. Neil was further left than I, and that would seem to foreshadow his race ;)
3. Push out on the road
4. The pace was brisk, and I didn't read the map well. Was downhill from the control.
5. Pushed after Sam down to the trail. Closed the gap on Ali. Boris takes a better route and is right there.
6. Again left, and low. The map is pretty vague south and below the control. Ali again straighter and faster.
7. I did well on this control, catching up to two people.
8. But, Sam was right there, and so was Ali. I was a little hesitant going into 8 and they got ahead.
9. Wanted to go right (do a 90) but the pack was correct, and I hustled to catchup. It didn't hurt that I took a better route in.
10. I wanted to go right wound the hill, but that wouldn't be good. Again, hustled to catchup and hard on the trail. Sam is good downhill on rocky trails!
11. A fun leg. Again low and left, but should have been more confident on this one. High is the safe side.
12. I go left and Ali follows. I was more left than I realized, leading to a lot of hesitation when I got to the E-W trails and people who went wide right were ahead again.
