Race Evaluation

CSU Peters Hill: Advanced

dness

1. Mispunched. Right out of the box, I was a little nervous and ran to the area. I overshot (or so I thought) came back to find a control on a knoll in a pair (really 16, but the circle for that was on the flip side, and after all, the last sprint had mismatched control labels). In hindsight, using the vegetation/road would have made things easy.
2. A little befuddled because I thought I was coming from #1, not #16.
3. Right through the muddy depression
4.
5. I hate sideslopes
6. I really hate sideslopes. Brendan caught me here
7. Brendan went too low, I punched.
8. I thought the reentrant between the cliffs was the path and cut down too early. Came up and circled the circle before finding the control. John + Brendan punched in at about the same time
9. Followed John & Brendan
10.
11.
12. following a swath to the left, then ducking into the woods before the reentrant got severe.
13.
14. I started out thinking I was going to #15, and planned to run the road to the left just a tiny bit until it peaked, then run around the top. I was puzzled as to why I had to cover any distance on the road until I saw someone running from #14 (John?). D'oh
15. So here I circled the top to the left then blasted down. When I entered the vegetation I landed on #1 (but I saw the number 16 on it. What a weird coincidence). I was surprised to be so far west, and then to find the control so soon afterwards.
16. Mispunch (again). A no-brainer, as I had just run by the control and it said #16.
F. After the race, Sam said she was confused by #1 and since I was, too, I walked over there with Jeff & Sam. That's when I discovered my mispunches.
