Race Evaluation

WCOC Pond Mountain: Red

Charlie

1. just looking for the easiest way through the thickets between fields
2. +01:00couldn't see the map well enough to see what was in or near the circle. Eventually figured out I had to be on the hill and just went hunting for a knoll
3. Trail for a bit, then contoured, and looked for the rocks coming down the spur
4. Pretty happy with this leg. QR showed a fairly straight line, and I felt like I was in contact all the way, but couldn't see details on the map at all. Attacked from the directional bare rock knolls before the last trail, saw the re-entrant developing from the trail, but hesitated a bit when the flag was behind a rock.
5. Going straight looked like it might involve some nasty rocky stuff, so I went right to the trail. Then I got stuck crossing the stream, so I lost a lot of time on a leg where I was navigating fine. Just couldn't see the map.
6. Wandered a bit going up the hill, and not sure for a while which side of the marsh I was going. Eventually hit the trail and knew where I was. Drifted left after coming off the trail and relocated off big rocky areas.
7. Compass and looking for a rock, drifted a bit right
8. Around to the right.
9. Sucked off a rock too soon, but no real loss
10. Hard getting up the hill to this one.
11. Getting tired
12. Easy
