| 1. | I thought I cut a break at the starting line when the mystery Russian "Sergey" didn't show, leaving only Dave Dunham clearly out of my league. But he apparently started late and still smoked the field. I was briefly in the lead going to 1 until Dave decided he had had enough of my slow pace and surged ahead to the control. I never saw him or anyone else from my group again. | ||||||

| 7. | +00:20 | Stayed high, and was on line, but I hesitated at some boulders early, and was very tentative moving towards the control. | |||||
| 8. | +01:10 | Disaster. Wasn't reading the map and just got off line to the left, the wandered a bit south of the circle before figuring it out. | |||||
| 9. | +00:10 | Rick D. was now in front of me. He stopped to check a control at the boulder before the circle. I hesitated a bit, then missed a bit to the left. | |||||
