Susquehanna Stumble: Long

tdgood

1. +07:00Couldn't find number 1 on the map. My number 1 is written as a large "^" symbol. My number 9 is written as a #4. By the time I found the control on the map everyone was gone. I decided to run road to the trail (a mistake). I was following Joe Brautigam but he wasnt taking the trails. I don't know where he was going but it seceeded in getting me lost. I was running down a trail when Valerie Meyer and Francis Hoagle cross it perpendicular to me. I knew I was in trouble. I followed them to another trail crossing. confered with Valerie and located where we were. went to first control although slowly.
2. Down Reentrant, cross stream, shot in from trail bend. Got to low where there was another row of cliffs that I don't think were mapped. Saw Peggy up Higher at major cliffs but didn't see control. Finally went way back to the end of the rock (well past the cliff end) and there was control. I don't think this was hung in the correct spot.
3. +00:30Took bearing, went straight up over hill. Ended up to high which helps confirm that #2 isn't in correct spot. Peggy followed me.
4. Followed reentrant up. cut right to the trail only the trail wasn't there. Was going to take the trail to A. instead cut over to stone wall and went to B. Peggy took different route but still behind me.
5. A. Peggy following me.
6. D
7. E: Came over top and didn't see control. Had to go to bottom of reentrant then back up to control in order to see it.
8. C: Control hung high. Peggy still following me.
9. Up to top of hill. Angled down hill. there were a lot of rides that were not mapped. Made it hard to tell how far I had dropped. Hit the swamp. Swamp had more water than expected. Ran right to control.
10. Saw Peggy ahead of me. I took the trail around to the small trail going NW. Swamp seemed much closer to trail than expected. Followed contours to the control.
11. I: Everybody is gone. Running by myself.
12. J:
13. G: Didn't want to cross swamp so went ot G next. Should have gone IJHGF so could take road/trail to 16.
14. F:
15. H:
16. Walked plowed my way through the green.
17. Jim Eagleton caught up to me.
18. Drank 1/2 quart of Erg. I had been taking it easy and felt pretty good. Brad said only 5 K left to go so I decided to actually run the last part.
19. +00:20Down road to bend then shot in. Pulled up a little short.
20. Took the road. Tried to run but ran out of steam. By the time I cut back into the woods I was pooped.
21. M: Led Jim ? (SVO) to control
22. K: Led Jim ? (SVO) to control
23. L: Led Jim ? (SVO) to control
24. N:
25.
26.
27. P:Cut up to clearings to trail around lake. Saw some orienteering ahead of me but he was still jogging. Passed a fisherwomen so felt obliged to jog.
28. R:Someone caught up from behind which suprised me since I thought everyone was long gone. I knew exactly where I was and still couldn't find control. Never did see reeentrant. I did not like the locationt of this control
29. Q: Stupid Control. Dogleg. I was walking ok leaving the last control but by the time I got to Q I was dizzy. Went right to it.
F. Trying not to pass out. Legs cramping up. I was a walking zombie who still felt pain. I had to stop 3 times because my legs wouldn't cooperate. I almost walked by finish when I heard a car drive by.
