Race Evaluation

QOC: Balls Bluff Sprints: Final A

Nadim

1. I'd rested less than an hour but still felt pooped. I again expected that the Final would take us to different woods. The first control was easy and right near the last control on my first course so I went almost right to it using the trail a little.
2. +00:10I stayed on the left side of the reentrant a little before crossing. I intended to come-up through the saddle, around to the left a bit. I fumbled with my control descriptions--the elastic holding them down had worked loose. Once that was okay, I found it difficult to run on the steep slopes with small brush and rocks hidden in the leaves--climbing high and straighter would have been better. I again got very close to the two reentrants that I crossed in the first race. This time I ran up to the saddle along the first but it was still further out of the way than I had intended. I s-cureved down the reentrant like last time and went directly to the correct control having gone to the one at the reentrant junction in the first race. My legs were pretty tired. I think this was the control where I saw Dharia.
3. Up the ridge along the left side of the reentrant, then straight across the saddle to the control in the next reentrant.
4. I enjoyed this leg the most out of both courses. Straight and less hilly, I went to it and could read the map along the way since the woods were relatively open.
5. +00:05Straight across the flatish area to the top of the reentrant, then continuing straight across the next flat area to the drop off. I caught-up to someone and passed him as I descended. I slowed and was carefull to scan for the control. It was vislble to my right so when I hit bottom I angled up and over. As I climbed, I had lost site of the control and some other people were to my right apparantly going up the reentrant. I climbed higher than the deadfall in the reentrant and finally saw it but it cost me a hesitation.
F. +00:12I just wanted to head up. I guess I didn't take a good bearing. I got too far to the right as I climbed and could see the finish well to my left. Somehow I had crossed the trail but I used it going in to the finish.
