1. | Even though I *knew* I was going to take it easy today, just enjoy a hike, and take lots of pics, I still picked a really dopey route for this first control. I wasn’t really paying attention to contours at all, and ended up with a lot of unneeded climb right out of the gate. I guess this first leg after several years needed to slap me around a bit to get my brain engaged! | ||||||

4. | This is the only leg where my nav got a little soft. I wanted to get high enough on the ridge (using the fire road) to miss the reentrant system, then head due east to the depressions. I got too high on the ridge, so when I headed east, I missed the depressions and started descending the east side of the ridge. I was able to visualize the north-south-oriented oblong rise to the NE of the depressions, and relocated off of that, attacking from the south end of that rise to the control. | ||||||
