Race Evaluation

May Daze: Red 1

1. What a long leg to start off the festivities! Ran over the spur at the start. Feeling great. On the next climb, noticed the lack of air. Ugh! Checked off the bend in the trail. I could see the hill on the other side of the reentrant. Climbed the broad spur to the control.
2. Ran to the right of the straight line to the clearing in the forest then went across to the control.
3. Bad map reading

Thought the control was right at the bottom of long reentrant with the other marshy stuff. It was a couple of controls above it. Lost a little time here.
4. Checked off the corner of the fence. Could see the hill from a long ways away.
5. Ran to the left of the first rocky hill top, followed the spur around the rocks. Was a little left of the control.
6. Was careful on this short "easy" control.
7. Ran for the clearing then followed the forest edge. Had a bit of a climb.
8. Cross the first reentrant. Wondered where I was going to cross the uncrossable ponds and fight. Found a beaver dam along my line of travel that Mikell had thoughtfully requested of the local animal life. Ran up the reentrant, passed the bare rock, crossed the road into the forest. Aimed for the clearing to the left of the control, turned right, and hit the control.
9. Went way left to the road, used the line of rocky ground/clearing for an attackpoint.
10. Straight line to the control.
11. Ran through the clearing, stayed above the rocks, used the clearing edge as an attackpoint.
12. Underrated difficulty
Not thinking clearly

Followed a bearing. Was pulled off of the straight line by another control. Checked the control, wrong one. Tried to get back on line, but ended up on the road. Ran back along the road looking for a little clearing on the left, there 's the clearing and the same damn wrong control. Took a straight line from there to my control.
13. Followed a bearing from my control, but it felt wrong since I knew the road was the other way. As I was running I didn't notice that the road made a 90 degree turn. Hit the road, ran down hill to the control.
F. Sprint hard for the fans!
