1. Bad route choice
Bad compass work
Bad distance judgement
Time Lost: 01:30
Bad compass and distance extimation from my attack point at the corner of the field. Overran cntl badly.
2. Staight downhill through the field of high grass.
3. Found a mowed path through the grass leading east. Horseshoe Trail to fifth right. Rough compass SE, attack south from stonewall-trail junction.
4. Aimed for the fields to the right. Attack from trail junction.
5. Horsehoe trail until ~75m past charcoal terrace. Long attack from the trail by compass, nailed the cntl.
6. Tired
Horseshoe trail to start area, same as #1, but did not overun it this time
7. Tired
Straight to the cntl.
8. Bad map reading
Confused parallel features
Bad distance judgement
Could not relocate
Not thinking clearly
Time Lost: 20:00
Slow over the rocky ground. Thought I had gone much further. Searched for the point about 300m to the west. Multiple relocation errors. Found the point on fifth attempt. Ugghh! This hurt.
9. Straight across hillside. Sideslope and rocky ground slowed me. A lower line where the hill was less steep would have been faster. Handrailed property line from the cairn and dropped to the cntl.
10. Bad route choice
Bad compass work
Time Lost: 01:00
Poor rough compass north to Horseshoe trail. Drifted east. Attacked from one trail junction to far east, but caught my error when I crossed the next trail. Read creeks to locate cntl.
11. Tired
Ran trails to property line. Saw another person near the cntl an went to it.
12. Bad route choice
Hesitated
Time Lost: 00:30
Straight downhill. Slow over rocky ground, should have stayed a bit east.
13. Ran hard downhill to the cntl. Pinpointed my location from minor trails near cntl.
14. Ran trails. Angled into the woods before reaching Horseshoe trail. Looked for creek before cntl.
15. Ran hard. One very big error cost me on my first Blue course.

Total Time Lost - 00:23:00
