PBricker's comments - by leg
| 1. | Pretty straight; didn't see the obvious trail route to the right. | |
| 2. | Following the yellow, first left of line, then right of line. Very careful coming towards the circle, and hit the reentrant 10 meters below the flag. | |
| 3. | Straight. | |
| 4. | Straght, successfully reading the rock up the broad spur. | |
| 5. | Time Lost: 06:30 | Crossed the the stream bed just above the branch point, and expected to go to the end of the yellow for a good attack. But somehow the yellow was not very distinct, or I strayed right or left. In any case I thought I hit the spur below the control, and so headed up the spur, searching everything that looked like a dot knoll on the NW side of the spur (there were a lot!). I couldn't make the rock in the terrain match my map, but eventually (after way too much time lost) I started heading back down the spur and found it. (This would have been at most a 2 minute error if I had just focused on the shape of the spur: really stupid.) |
| 6. | Straight. | |
| 7. | A bit left of line, where the running was better. | |
| 8. | Time Lost: 01:30 | Took the trail around to the right of line, then to the stream bed just north of the cliffs. Good attack point, but I veered right and hit the rock on the edge of the circle, a bit high. After checking out some boulder clusters, I quickly corrected and went right to it. |
| 9. | To the trail, leaving before the cliff, then up through the EW saddle. Hesitated a bit at the first NS saddle, but then realized I needed to go further to the next NS saddle. | |
| 10. | Time Lost: 03:00 | Drifted slightly right and hit the stream bed, but somehow I couldn't see it on the map and wandered the wrong way before correcting. |
| 11. | East to the trail (added climb, but simplified the leg). Then running along the open area, cutting in just right. | |
| 12. | Straight. | |
| 13. | Quick decision to go left of line and take the trail from the road, attacking from the bend. I didn't notice the steep 5 line climb out the reentrant! So I guess staying right of line is better. Though contouring from the trail made for a solid attack point. | |
| 14. | A bit left, and then in. | |
| 15. | Followed the streamers. |
