An ice storm Wednesday evening into Thursday threatened to cancel the event, downing trees, causing widespread power outages and school closures. But by mid-day Friday, the ice had melted, and Diamond Oaks Cadets Travis and Jasmine helped clear away debris from the Diamond Oaks trails. Saturday dawned bright and sunny, with temperatures climbing into the mid 40’s. Trails were wet and slippery in many places, but that didn’t deter a huge turnout for the meet. Backup generators managed to keep the lights on and the computer and printer humming away; most participants probably didn’t even realize that the school remained without power throughout the meet.
