L Lower Leg, Calf Strain

2011-12-03 – 2011-12-11

Grade: 3

While running the orienteering race at North SeaTac Park, I accidentally kicked my upper, left calf with my right foot while striding. The left calf muscle cramped from the blow, and running on it while cramped is probably what caused the injury. It hurt most around the middle of the course and felt somewhat better at the end. After the race, I ran quickly several times through the last control and then the finish, so that Tyler could take video of me for his documentary.

After cooling down, the calf was quite tender to the touch, and the pain was localized near the surface of the skin, to the medial side of the middle of the calf, about 4-6 inches below the knee.
