L Upper Leg, Impact wound / trauma

2012-05-12 – 2012-05-25

Grade: 2

Fell while crossing a log and lost balance. I hit a 4-inch log on the way down and then stopped when I drove the log into the ground. It was like a kid hitting you in the leg with a baseball bat. Very little visible bruising, but it is really sore. It's hard to walk. It is the worst after sleeping or sitting in one spot. It actually seems to tolerate use pretty well, but I'm think I'm pushing it too hard. I have done some very gentle stretches just to get some usable range-of-motion.

I'm going with Grade 2 for now---in a day or two I'll know if it is really a grade 3.

What caused it? Primary cause was probably pure chance, although (1) I was in a hurry. And (2) I worry that I am getting sloppy or less careful or something. I don't think (2) is a certainty, but it does worry me.

I think I should have done specific, daily mini-workouts to it. I meant to, but it was too easy to just come home and not plan a workout. The few things I did were either too minor or *way* too intense.
