R Lower Leg, Stress Fracture

2013-11-04 – 2014-01-23

Grade: 4

Quite a severe stress fracture that formed during my cross country season. The pain in my leg was quite bad for much longer than I had expected, I had lots of throbbing and pain even when I wasn't moving or touching my leg. I went to a doctor after my sports trainer at school suspected a fracture and he was right. I was on crutches for about two months and in a boot for two and a half months. At my second doctors visit (when I was hoping to be cleared to run again) he said I was out for another month. I was unable to run or do any kind of cross training except for core and upper body workouts for the whole two and a half months. Even after I was clear to start doing bike and swim workouts I would occasionally feel discomfort in my leg.
