Twisted ankle during trail running, heard tendons snap. I iced the injury for 2 months. I could not point my foot for 8 months (no swimming kick). All my summer triathlon races in 2006 were done without kicking on the swim and with an ankle brace. If I stress my ankle, bruising reappears, and ankle is painful. Running on flat surfaces has been fine since 2 months after the injury. Kicking while swimming has been fine 11 months after the injury.
It has recovered without bruising for a couple of months, but I still need to be careful how I position my ankle while sitting and stretching, etc.
