L Foot, Impact wound / trauma

2008-03-08 - present

severity grade: 2

Bruise to ball of L foot. Occurred at Running of Green 4M race. Aggravated by running fast on pavement. Ice helps. Bike helps.

Thought it was gone, but 4/22 workout brought it back. I used the ice bath. It hurts more when I flex my toes up or down and when I'm barefoot.

Long runs don't bother it much, but running fast on track or pavement sure does. So from now on, intervals are on the trail path.

I think it was caused by overstriding while pushing hard during a 4M race. Maybe it was just the pounding from running hard.

Ice helped. Bike helped. Rest helped. Massage maybe felt a little better, but I don't think that helped. I tried the metatarsal gel pads under the show insole; I don't think that helped.
