Sunday Feb 27

Running long (snow) 2:09:28 [3] 14.0 mi (9:15 / mi) +490m 5:11 / km
slept:6.0 shoes: NB 906
an enjoyable run on snowmobile trails starting from home and going all the way up to rt-2 & 110. most of the trail was nice packed stuff, except at the beginning where only walkers and skiers had been since the last snowfall (there were snowmobile tracks there by the time I was coming back). this was tiring, but legs took much less abuse than the road would have given.

Saturday Feb 26

Running warm up/down (road) 30:00 [2] 3.8 mi (7:53 / mi)
slept:9.0 shoes: Adidas Resp Tr X red
over to scott rd and back for hill reps
Running hills (road) 10:26 [5] 3.08 km (3:23 / km) +160m 2:41 / km
shoes: Adidas Resp Tr X red
4x (2x ~200m, 1x ~370m)
averaging 41s (~10m climb) and 75s (~20m cl.)
I had times, but erased them accidentally.
Running (recovery) 21:00 [2] 3.08 km (6:49 / km)
shoes: Adidas Resp Tr X red
back down the hill each time. I actually took 3x rest, but for the final third of the time I was usually walking or standing, so I won't count that here.
Skiing (classic) 41:15 [2]
ahr:140 shoes: waxless classic skis
skiing on the flats, not a great track, just what some other people had made earlier. this seems to hurt my ankle more than running. maybe thats how I started it.

Friday Feb 25

Running (road) 57:04 [2] 7.4 mi (7:43 / mi)
slept:6.0 shoes: NB 906

Thursday Feb 24

Running (road) 48:40 [2] 6.3 mi (7:43 / mi) +250m 4:16 / km
ahr:148 shoes: NB 906
after dark on the roads around home. I was hoping to have a half inch of snow covering the roads, but it was only just beginning to accumulate when I finished (although it was falling in my eyes the whole run). probably saw like 5 cars the whole time, so I mostly ran with the light off.
Strength (ankles) 2:00 [1]
oh yeah, and I got a pump for the ankle disk.

Wednesday Feb 23

Running warm up/down (road) 29:20 [2] 4.0 mi (7:19 / mi)
ahr:153 weight:161.5lbs shoes: NB 906
Running intervals (road) 23:16 [4] 4.0 mi (5:49 / mi)
ahr:170 max:178 shoes: NB 906
twice out and back on a roughly measured undulating mile on mill st. "out" has a bit more uphill than "back". I was expecting 6-6:15, so it could be 5 or 10m short. 4x ~1mi, with 1 min rests.

Tuesday Feb 22

Running 48:30 [3] 6.4 mi (7:35 / mi) +250m 4:12 / km
shoes: NB 906
night-time run around bolton. upper outside-front of right ankle feeling gradually more abused over the last week. (it's probably not a coincidence that I rolled it in that direction a few times in the fall season) usually hurts at the beginning when going up inclines. I've been icing it. I found my inflatable dynadisc for stability training, but I need to get a needle pump to inflate it more.

Sunday Feb 20

Running long (road) 1:28:41 [2] 11.7 mi (7:35 / mi)
slept:6.5 shoes: Adidas Resp Tr X red

Saturday Feb 19

X-Training (walking) 1:03:00 [1] 4.0 mi (15:44 / mi) +160m 8:42 / km
with alex and the dogs. I was underdressed, so my hands pretty much froze. this may border on un-loggable, but it's mostly hills, and the descents made my knees hurt (less than last week though), so it must be worth something.
Running (road/trail) 49:20 [3] 6.43 mi (7:40 / mi)
shoes: Adidas Resp Tr X red
after warming up a little, I went back out running on the solid-frozen snowmobile trails in the flats and then up to road to still river and down into the oxbow wildlife sanctuary. not sure I was really supposed to be there though, since the trail was a bit sketchy, and when I came out there were a bunch of signs near the road that said something like "area closed: all public access prohibited"

Friday Feb 18

Running (road) 43:52 [3] 6.0 mi (7:19 / mi)
slept:6.0 weight:161.5lbs shoes: Adidas Resp Tr X red

Thursday Feb 17

Running (road) 42:16 [3] 6.0 mi (7:03 / mi) +80m 4:12 / km
weight:164.5lbs shoes: Adidas Resp Tr X red
during lunch. arch feeling good again today, probably due to a combination of stretching and golf-ball massage since yesterday.

Wednesday Feb 16

Running (road) 53:30 [3] 7.2 mi (7:25 / mi)
weight:162lbs shoes: Adidas Resp Tr X red
was planning to run in hayden woods, but the trail was too icy, so after one loop I went on the roads. arch feeling slightly worse compared to yesterday, but maybe because I didn't stretch it.

Tuesday Feb 15

Running (road) 43:39 [3] 6.0 mi (7:16 / mi)
weight:163lbs shoes: Adidas Resp Tr X red
running at lunch...nice weather. foot feeling pretty much 100%, but I guess I should probably not go too crazy this week though

Sunday Feb 13

Running long (trail) 1:22:39 [2] 10.55 mi (7:49 / mi)
slept:8.0 shoes: Adidas Resp Tr X red
exploring more harvard snowmobile trails. after running 100m out the door, I was already off the roads and would be for the next 50 mins or so. it was nice that the snowmobile tracks were there, because otherwise I definately would have felt [more] like I was trespassing at times. I suspect that some of these connections may be overgrown/closed after the winter. I meant to go shorter, but there wasn't a good time to turn around. foot felt ok except for a short period in the middle.

Saturday Feb 12

X-Training (walking) 1:00:00 [1] 4.0 mi (14:59 / mi)
with alex and the doggies around the neighborhood.
Running 18:00 [2] 2.35 mi (7:40 / mi)
shoes: Adidas Resp Tr X red
started out on the road for a mile, and then found a snowmobile trail down into bolton flats that looped back towards the house. foot felt fine.

Friday Feb 11

Running (road) 29:50 [3] 4.05 mi (7:22 / mi)
shoes: Adidas Resp Tr X red
arch not feeling normal yet, but it doesn't actually hurt anymore.

Wednesday Feb 9

Skiing (skate) 37:45 [3] 8.39 km (4:30 / km)
ahr:157 weight:161lbs (injured) shoes: skate skis
another 55F skiing day. snow getting thin, but it looks like more is coming!

Tuesday Feb 8

Running 31:32 [3] 4.1 mi (7:41 / mi)
ahr:160 slept:9.0 (injured) shoes: Adidas Resp Tr X red
arch still hurting today. as expected, it hurt less towards the end of the run.

Monday Feb 7

Skiing (skate) 45:45 [3]
ahr:156 max:171 slept:6.0 (injured) shoes: skate skis
yesterday I strained some shoulder muscle in my upper back while trying to lift Alex into the air by her armpits (it seemed like a good idea at the time). it hurt quite a bit almost as soon as I put her down, and has been hurting ever since. it's slightly better now and it's not bad at all when I'm just sitting around. foot is feeling pretty good, and I scored a golf ball from mark, so I can massage it under my desk.

neither of those problems seemed to interfere very much with skiing today. I went during lunch, and it was 53F, so it was short sleeves all the way. I was pretty tired after 10 mins, so I wasn't sure how I would be able to last the planned 45 mins, but it got a bit easier once I settled in.

Sunday Feb 6

X-Training (walking) 55:00 [1]
slept:7.0 weight:161lbs (injured)
I've been icing/stretching my arch, and trying to keep my shoes on (i.e. not walking barefoot). it felt better, but tight this morning, so I'm still taking it easy in hopes of a full and quick recovery. I walked with alex for about an hour (she goes pretty fast). it felt fine, except for when we started going up a steeper road, so I turned around then. probably some skiing tomorrow, and then back to running tuesday.

Saturday Feb 5

Note
slept:6.0 (injured)
arch still tender today. looks like a mild case of plantar faciitis. I haven't been sleeping especially well this week, so maybe I just need some rest (along with the standard treatment). too bad, it was a really nice day (53F).

Friday Feb 4

Running (trail) 41:17 [3] 5.16 mi (7:59 / mi)
ahr:161 shoes: Adidas Resp Tr X red
at lunch. left arch was feeling irritated this morning, and I was considering taking the day off, but instead I did 4 loops in hayden woods (5-6 inches of soft-packed snow), which felt fine. it feels better now, I probably just need to stretch it.

Thursday Feb 3

Running (road) 1:00:40 [2] 8.0 mi (7:35 / mi)
ahr:155 shoes: Adidas Resp Tr X red
a little drizzle, and then it started sleeting. 2 miles in the middle on a crappy snowpacked trail.

Wednesday Feb 2

Running 1:04:30 [3] 8.5 mi (7:35 / mi)
ahr:156 shoes: Adidas Resp Tr X red
during lunch. on roads except the last 20 minutes on snowy trails in hayden woods.
Skiing (skate) 36:30 [2]
ahr:149 shoes: skate skis
a fun session after dark. the skate lanes were packed pretty hard, so I had a much easier time than last week. balance is not very good though; I couldn't go much harder since I was mostly trying not to trip myself. a bunch of fire trucks showed up right as I was leaving. not sure what that was about.

Tuesday Feb 1

Running (road) 1:00:00 [3] 8.15 mi (7:20 / mi)
ahr:159 shoes: Adidas Resp Tr X red
running with mark at lunch. he's doing 100 mile weeks, so he'll do another 8 later tonight.
