still haven't ordered a new compass, but after greenbelt, I thought I should have something, so I brought along this old baseplate mapping compass I got from karen w back in the day. didn't use it much since the needle was horribly slow, but it helped at least to verify the direction of the sun every once in a while so I could just use the shadows. fun running, it felt like I was moving along pretty well. eddie and jon t were there, but haven't seen their times or splits yet.

sent my forerunner back to garmin to get the sound fixed. it was also having intermittent issues downloading, so hopefully I'll get a brand new one back. in the meantime I'm running with my old polar watch, which seems like it might need new batteries. some soreness in my left foot near the heel. also, almost over the cold.

still no compass, and it showed in places. fun running at times, and other times not so fun. lots of thorns. after looking for 7 a while, I was planning to skip it, but then decided to come back at it from 8, and found it right away. I don't think the map was quite right in that area, and also some homeless dude's "house" was at the top of the hill, I thought maybe be got pissed and took it.

I think it was a bad gps day, because I had to add lots of points to fit my track to routegadget. I would blame the map except I can tell from places I went twice that the track wasn't super accurate.
