Monday Mar 31

Note
snowing?!!
Bike 23:30 [2]
an easy day

Sunday Mar 30

Orienteering (local event) 1:28:00 [3] *** 9 km (9:47 / km)
spiked:20/24c
cold and rainy event at boojum.

Saturday Mar 29

Running 59:00 [2] 6.02 mi (9:47 / mi)
shoes: Asics Gel Cumulus III
running around some trails in belmont, starting from star market (southernmost point on track). metropolitan state hospital is an abandoned mental institution. apparently when it closed, they just drove the remaining patients downtown and dropped them off. but anyways it might make an interesting park-o map. the forest is ok now but I think it will be pretty thick in the summer. I also sortof fixed the problem with my gps antenna...one of the connectors was not screwed tight enough.
Running 10:00 [2] 0.75 mi (13:19 / mi)
shoes: Asics Gel Cumulus III
[actually before the other run] a short run with bailey. I think he gets bored of running after about 15 minutes, and then he starts trying to stop and sniff everything.

Friday Mar 28

Running (terrain) 30:00 [3] 3 km (10:00 / km)
shoes: Asics Gel Cumulus III
at prospect hill. the terrain is super-open, and finally without snow. hip thing feels totally fine now:)

Wednesday Mar 26

Running 3:00 [2]
(injured) shoes: Asics Gel Cumulus III
injured, you ask? I guess I could be checking that every day, but that gets a bit old after a while.

my hip (or maybe upper-right thigh) felt slightly better today, and I wanted to see if running would make it worse. not really, but it didn't help. driving seems to make it hurt more, maybe its some kind of kink from 11+ hrs of driving this weekend.

Tuesday Mar 25

Bike 29:00 [2]
my stomach had some kind of knot in it this evening and something with my hip feels whacked, so I just biked, which was fine.

Sunday Mar 23

Orienteering 20:00 [2] *** 2.0 mi (10:00 / mi)
hanging park-o controls.

Saturday Mar 22

Orienteering 40:00 [2] *** 3.1 km (12:54 / km)
shadowing danilo
Orienteering (contour only) 46:00 [3] *** 4 km (11:30 / km)
spiked:17/21c
contours only exercise without compass. doing well until I started trying to run away from d-money and balter posse.
Orienteering (night-o) 45:00 [2] *** 4.5 km (10:00 / km)
spiked:10/10c
the second half of the billygoat (+ #1) backwards. [didn't actually measure distance]

Monday Mar 17

Note
(rest day)
70F outside . unfortunately it's now a rest week. I probably won't do much of anything until the weekend (Jr-training-camp). my back hurt a bit while running yesterday, but I think it was just tired muscles since it's fine today.

Sunday Mar 16

Orienteering 1:31:39 [3] *** 7 km (13:06 / km) +50m 12:38 / km
ahr:162 spiked:9/9c
training at George Washington SF with biggins and brendan. I hung streamers, and they came behind and picked them up. there were no signs of horrendous underbrush, although it was a little thick in some places. the main problem was that it was 60F and there was a foot of melting snow on the ground, which made it extremely difficult to run. it was the sort of thing when you break all the way through every third step or so. I'd say the contours are pretty good, though, so I think we'll try going back in a month when the snow should be gone.

Saturday Mar 15

Skiing (xc classic) 30:00 [1]
alex had me convinced that she was dragging me to some art exhibit in wellesley, but instead we were really going to Weston for XC skiing. (whew!!) we skied for about an hour, but except for a few sections that I did by myself it wasn't very strenuous. I felt a bit tired afterwards, so I think that counts as some training. she did very well considering it was her second time on skis.
Running 21:00 [3] 2.4 mi (8:44 / mi)
shoes: Asics Gel Cumulus III
around the neighborhood with bailey. includes some time jogging in place while he took care of doggy-business.

Friday Mar 14

Note
We'll miss you Joel. [OCIN]
X-Training 20:00 [2]
Running 30:00 [3] 3.63 mi (8:15 / mi)
shoes: Asics Gel Cumulus III

Wednesday Mar 12

Bike 20:30 [3]
in order to amuse myself I'm trying to do a 4-week periodization this season. this is the last (longest) week this cycle. not that it will help much without hard workouts, but maybe I will even be able to do some of those eventually.
Running (treadmill) 30:00 [3] 3.54 mi (8:28 / mi)
shoes: Asics Gel Cumulus III
X-Training (stair intervals) 8:00 [4]
4x2min
X-Training 2:40 [2]
40s easy between intervals. afterwards I also attempted to play raquetball for a few minutes with some friends who were also at the gym. but that wasn't much of a workout.

Tuesday Mar 11

Orienteering (night-line-o) 52:19 [2] *** 5 km (10:28 / km)
at boojum rock. it was relatively bright with the snow + moon. yeah I was definately off the line a few times.

Strength 5:00 [2]

Sunday Mar 9

Bike 10:00 [2]
Running (treadmill) 1:00:00 [3] 7.14 mi (8:23 / mi)

pushing the limits of boredom? not a problem for some reason.

Saturday Mar 8

Running (road) 31:00 [2] 3.4 mi (9:07 / mi)
shoes: Asics Gel Cumulus III
it was nice weather, so bailey took me for an easy run around cambridge.

Tuesday Mar 4

Orienteering (night-o) 36:25 [3] *** 3.6 km (10:07 / km) +75m 9:10 / km
spiked:13/15c
night training course (no markers) at boojum rock. the snow is fantabulous for running on. lots of fun. I brought the gps again, but it apparently stopped tracking after only a few minutes. I had the antenna duct-taped to the top of my headlamp. seems like if you lose reception the receiver displays a message box that you have to hit ok before it starts tracking again. obviously I didn't do that since it was in my pocket. pretty dumb if you ask me.

Monday Mar 3

Bike 15:00 [2]
Strength 5:00 [2]

Sunday Mar 2

X-Training (mix) 18:00 [2]
Running 30:00 [3] 3.48 mi (8:36 / mi)

in bethesda for the weekend visiting alex's parents.
Running 53:00 [3] 6.25 mi (8:28 / mi)
shoes: Asics Gel Cumulus III
Strength 15:00 [1]
