mikkel set a short course at boojum rock. I seem to have lost the adapter for my battery charger (its a euro plug), so I haven't charged it since before jukola...I think it's pretty much drained, so I carried a small additional flashlight just in case. the stoneham-police rolled by to check us out as we were changing afterwards, but he didn't stop. I guess we didn't look sketchy enough (or didn't run away)

hanging streamers at baldwin hill with william. it took a bit longer than we expected, actually more like 4 hours, but a bunch that time was spent writing down the site descriptions, tying streamers, etc.

I went to see my regular doctor this morning about my back, so he would give me a referral to some super sports-med guy that alex's dad recommended. (alex's dad was the team doctor for the Washington Bullets for many years). I had some more x-rays and I'm going to have an MRI in 2 weeks. apparently the equipment is in such demand that they run it 24 hours a day...not surprisingly, the soonest available appointment was at 3am. that should be interesting. I'm going to see the sports guy next week. hopefully, now that I know a little more about exactly what makes it hurt, they will be more helpful. last time it went something like: "does this hurt? [poking] no. how about this? no. well, your x-rays look ok."

worked on knee lift, which seems to keep me from overstriding--better for the back. I did 10mins warmup, then 5x (2mins @7:00 + 1 min@8:30 pace), then 5 mins cooldown. not exactly hard intervals, but an improvment over recent efforts. I'm looking for any way to get some running time in at a respectable pace.
