Bike 20:00 [2]
I had to ride to the police station and then someplace ghetto to pick up my car which had been towed for street cleaning while I was riding to work yesterday. bastards!

Tuesday Aug 19

Bike (bike commute) 1:25:00 [2]
not sure if I should be doing this, but it felt ok.

night-o champs, blue course. as you can see I took pretty safe routes. a good run except for a few minutes on 9 & 10. no good attackpoint on 9, and I didn't know where I was along the trail (ran back and forth once to try and figure out) when I crossed it, since I had changed course to go around a steep bank/cliff. caught by the trail behind, and came back in from a bend. In retrospect I can see some better choices for this one. on 10 I aimed off way too far to the left since I was worried about missing the wall. somehow I ended up spending some time running west, and hit the trail before the wall.

I didn't have any complaints about the mapping, though the laser-print job suffered from the usual contours-in-green problem, which made the map difficult to read at times.

I got second to Joe B (he's in good shape) who ran 60 minutes. I don't think I had enough mistakes to account for the 8 minutes, especially since he made some too. wyatt was third with 77.

my back hurt a little before I started, but it wasn't any worse after, and the next morning it feels better than it did all weekend...ok but now I'll really start resting.

walking and hanging controls at baldwin hill. that made my back hurt a lot, I think it would actually have been better to just jog.

Note
my ortho guy said he didn't think the bulging disk was very serious, and if anything, the one below it was more abnormal. he suggested that I take 4-6 weeks of rest. I think I'll still run the night-o champs though.

prolonged rest is sortof a difficult thing to handle; but what's 2 more months after I've already wasted 14? will I be healthy again after 6 weeks? it could happen. would I be healthy now If I had just rested completely for 14 months? I think so, but how could I have known...

Tuesday Aug 5

Note
I haven't run much recently since my back was bothering me a little bit. the first report from my MRI apparently shows that I have a bulging disc. I'm taking the images to my orthopaedic dude tommorrow so he can look at them.
