Saturday Jan 31

Skiing (classic) 1:05:00 [2]
shoes: waxless classic skis
at weston, mixed intensity. I went off the groomed area to break up the monotony. harder to keep the effort up without a good track.
Strength (pilates) 20:00 [2]

Friday Jan 30

Running (trail) 28:00 [3] 3.5 mi (7:59 / mi)
shoes: Asics Gel Cumulus III
in hayden woods at lunchtime.

Wednesday Jan 28

Strength (pilates) 55:00 [1]
snowed today, but not as much as I hoped for. it would be nice for weston to groom some more trails.

Tuesday Jan 27

Running 28:00 [3] 4.0 mi (7:00 / mi)
shoes: Asics Gel Cumulus III
Strength (core) 10:00 [2]

Sunday Jan 25

Saturday Jan 24

Skiing (classic) 47:00 [3]
shoes: waxless classic skis
classic after dark at weston. the original plan was to ski with alex, but after 2 minutes she decided it was too cold (in fairness it was 15F and windy with the snowmakers blowing in our faces, and she's not good enough yet to easily work up a sweat) so I drive her home and came back. it took about 20 mins for my fingers to thaw out after I first got going again... I skied until close (6) which was perfect because I wore myself out nicely by then. it seemed like I had a good rhythm at times.

Friday Jan 23

Running (road) 28:00 [4] 4.0 mi (7:00 / mi)
shoes: Asics Gel Cumulus III
so, it seems like for now I can run at this pace without fear of re-injuring my back. why now? could be any of these... (on a scale of ? to ???)
- back is just "healing" ??? (yeah right)
- the continued practice of PT exercises has finally paid off ?
- the recent addition of classic skiing has loosened my hip flexors ??
- the recent re-additon of catchingfeatures is training me to avoid trees ???
- the very recent addition of pilates (which is a lot like my PT stuff) is helping ???
- I've been running in the middle of the day ??
- the pace is faster (I've been running with mark, who is a ~4:19 miler) ??
- I haven't been running in the forest much lately ???

in any case, let's keep our fingers crossed for continued improvement through the next few weeks (and the spring season)

red course at windblown. almost warm for a change. this is my second ski-o event. I was happy with my routes, including carrying the skis up to 6 and jogging down to 7.
mikkel c. did something like 55 mins.
Skiing (classic) 30:00 [3]
shoes: waxless classic skis
some more skiing around with daddy-o (on his skis). pretty tired by this point.

warm today, like 40

Strength (core) 15:00 [2]

Thursday Jan 8

Skiing (classic) 23:00 [3]
shoes: waxless classic skis
I went to weston in the afternoon, it's only 10 minutes from work. I got a season pass, which is cheaper assuming I go at least 18 more times.
Strength (core) 20:00 [2]
I've been pretty good about doing this so far. my physical therapist is pretty sure if I keep it up, I'll be back to full strength eventually.

Wednesday Jan 7

Running (trail) 39:00 [3] 4.5 mi (8:39 / mi)
shoes: Asics Gel Cumulus III
winter is back! two double-laps in hayden woods.

Monday Jan 5

Strength (core) 20:00 [2]

Sunday Jan 4

Bike (mtn bike) 42:00 [3]
riding around some conservation land in bedford at the intersection of 128 & 3. apparently it's known to bikers as "private reserve" or PR. not too rocky.
Running (trail/terrain) 13:00 [3] 1.3 mi (10:00 / mi)
shoes: Asics Gel Cumulus III
a short run after biking. this forest is quite open, so I think it will be mapped.

Saturday Jan 3

dark and drizzling
