SLOW Mile End
I needed to keep my concentration, and I did. Really pleased with this run for a few reasons. Running in the middle of the race definitely helps: going last as I have over the last few races reduces control visibilty!

I got into the map very quickly on the way to #1, then headed down the steep slippery side of the mound to run on the road up to #2. Slight ambiguity on the control location (in my mind only) but I came over the top of the ecology centre to check it wasn't there then dropped into the walkway where I expected it to be. Very slippery underfoot.

#5 presented my first challenge: I came over the top running largely from memory and over-ran to the bench over the bridge. Corrected quickly. Slightly off line on the way to #6, coming a little too far south and then struggled to find the control first time in the undergrowth (but nothing like last week!).

Very straightforward #7-10, then took a gamble to find a path through dense bushes behind the Audi to #11. Saw Richard Barrett as I left #11, and felt pleased to have made it that far!

#12 on autopilot, slight hesitation on #13 stopping too early, then slipped and came down hard on an adverse camber to #14. #15 and #16 very straightforward, and Richard passed me fast on the way to #17. Pleased to realise that this one would be set down on the canal tow-path.

Richard missed #18 and I passed him looking confused on the way to #19. Chose to cut through the building gap west rather than due north as it wasn't clear where you could cut through.

#20 popped up as expected; west and north to #21, almost sliding into the canal, #22 exactly where I'd hoped - confidence sky high now - and fast through to approach #23 correctly from the east largely by luck. Almost overshot the turn to leave the university, but corrected in time and home.

Finished 8th out of 65. Ran over 30% (expected for a semi-urban race); race pace was 5:59. Felt good!
