Road running 21:59 [3] 3.5 km (6:17 / km)

With Lucy. The usual route. She had a sore leg so was whining a bit, until some jogger jogged last and she started legging it to pass her and run off into the distance, bit embarrassing really. Left me for dead too. My hip / knee problems were not as prominent today.

1 PM

Road running 43:00 [3] 6.92 km (6:13 / km)

Ran to pick up at the garage at Loanhead. Wouldn’t really have chosen to run today as I was a bit exhausted from yesterday and my knee and hip are not getting any better, but needs must. Lots of lovely rain.

Trail running 1:00:27 [3] 8.27 km (7:19 / km)

Ran with Loz, who has got loads quicker over the lockdown, whereas I am loads slower than this time last year. Sone Arthur’s Seat-ery. The comments on my fitness were harsh, very harsh:

“I think my Garmin thinks we’ve stopped“
“Are you actually running?”
Waiting at the bottom of the hill “I was worried, thought you must have fallen or something you were so long.”
(Up whinny) “26min miling just now mum. Think of my Strava stats. Running with you is social media suicide.”
Also up whinny “I mean I feel sorry for you and that mum, what with all of your” pauses, thinks, “padding. I mean why do you bother trying?”.

I like to think he was being sarcastic.

Trail running 42:05 [3] 4.2 mi (10:01 / mi)

Braids and Blackford mini loop. L hip still rubbish.

Trail running 42:20 [3] 3.5 mi (12:06 / mi)

Arthur’s seat up the haddie and back via pipers.

Trail running 10:00 [3] 1.1 km (9:05 / km) +160m 5:16 / km

Went a bit out of Edinburgh for a coastal walk. Ran around a bit when I could (half the time was carrying Bertie in a rucksack though). We went down a very steep hill to a cove and I ran back up just to see if I could. Yup. 160m climb in 1.1k was easy, even though I am still a good 7kg overweight and my left glute seems permanently locked up. That’s post-baby blood for you though.

9 AM

Trail running 28:26 [3] 4.6 km (6:11 / km)

Out and about doing some jobs. Left glute still sore and stiff. I think I’d feel ok otherwise. RHR 35 bpm. I think this is a post pregnancy thing.

Then to Threapmuir all day with megan and kids.
6 PM

Trail running 9:30 [3] 1.0 mi (9:30 / mi)

Run to pick up a takeaway. Extended it a bit to make up a mile for the HBT beer challenge.

Thursday Jun 18, 2020 #

11 AM

Trail running 24:59 [3] 3.87 km (6:27 / km)

With Lucy. She was a bit slow, esp on the hills. Said her legs were tired.

Monday Jun 15, 2020 #

12 PM

Trail running 34:53 [3] 5.13 km (6:48 / km)

Nice in the haar. Over the Crags.

Friday Jun 12, 2020 #

Trail running 27:56 [3] 4.4 km (6:21 / km)

Top of Blackford Hill and back. Nice strong wind to push me up in 16 mins.

I have been doing lots of hill Walking to help my glutes. They were feeling better today.

Wednesday Jun 10, 2020 #

Trail running 28:55 [3] 5.0 km (5:47 / km)

Meadows lap. Sore left hip and knee.

Tuesday Jun 9, 2020 #

Trail running 26:00 [3] 3.0 km (8:40 / km)

On the treadmill. Kept getting really giddy so quite a bit of walking. Think I am just really really tired. 2 hill walks today - Blackford with the buggy and AS with the sling.

Sunday Jun 7, 2020 #

Trail running 21:53 [3] 2.25 mi (9:44 / mi)

Same prestonfield golf course route as before, but with Lucy. She whopped me. Tired out now! Sub 10 mil miling though! Get in! Lucy has pointed out that the only family member I am faster than can’t walk.

Saturday Jun 6, 2020 #

Note

Was going to go for a walk / run but went swimming with Megan M, Freya and Eilidh at Threpmuir instead. Not that I actually went in. I delegated that to the rest of the family.

Friday Jun 5, 2020 #

Walk 55:00 [3] 3.0 mi (18:20 / mi)

Pretty much the exact Allermuir gallop course with Lucy. We walked up, ran down but she left me for dead on the descent of course. In fact I think a steep rough descent 5 weeks after surgery is a bit soon. It felt quite urgh but she had vanished and I was a bit worried that she might have got lost so kept going.

Ray walked with B in a sling.

Walk 2:00:00 [3]

Walk with the kids. The key to dragging out the two oldest kids is the fact that I drop into a local Independent coffee shop for takeaway chai lattes for them (‘helping the local economy’ Bribe). The key to dragging out the youngest is I strap him in and he has no choice. Meadows, bruntsfield and home from holy corner.

Wednesday Jun 3, 2020 #

Walk 1:30:00 [3]

Meadows, bruntsfield, grange with both sons.

Trail running 23:23 [3] 2.25 mi (10:24 / mi)

Same as Monday but faster. Sub 11min miling! Didn’t have to walk today, and felt like I was actually running. Everything around my left hip was bad, but what’s new there!

Tuesday Jun 2, 2020 #

Walk 1:00:00 [3]

Meadows with the kids. So so tired.

Monday Jun 1, 2020 #

7 PM

Trail running 24:15 [3] 2.15 mi (11:17 / mi)

Weight - baby elephant
Sleep - bugger all
Clothing - all quite a few sizes too small.

If Lucy saw me on the meadows she’d have me down as a punter for sure.

Down Priestfield road to the hotel, over the golf course and back up innocent railway.

Got home and when Lucy heard that I had been 12 min miling she -in all seriousness - thought I had been walking. I did a bit of walking and stopped a few times to rejig my too tight clothing to allow me to breathe - but stopped the watch obvs.
