Note

2011 has been a cool year. first ever woc and some great races. shocked at how well it went. every race i thought i would do pretty badly as i wss pretty undertrained but was pleasantly surprised every time.did some fun trips abroad. my interest is still seeing how much i can improve as an orienteer, seeing how well i can perform.

i need to concentrate on being more disciplined with technique to get better results. looking forward to seeing where 2012 can take me if i can keep injury free. 2011 has meant:

new 5k pb: 18.03
new 10k pb: 37.51
fra 2nd with hbt
picked for scotland in mountain running, coming 9th i think in the commonwealth champs.
british middle o champs
2nd in the jk
31st in woc off a truly shite run.
woc in scotland 2015 - i'll be 38...
esoc's most improved orienteer
sol brown course winner
heading up british rankings (tho the formula seems to be flawed. get lots of urban races in next year and i might have a chance of staying top)
won uk cup

some geeky stats:

uk cups fastest split in 91 of the 284 splits in the races i ran (32%).
selection races fastests splits in 47 of the 183 races (25%).
no fastest run ins unsurprisingly and biggest mistake was the 4:47 that cost me the british long!

Intervals - short and speedy race 30:00 [5] 4.0 mi (7:30 / mi)

park run. ran 18:17. new pb for the course. was chuffed as i have been so despondent about my training recently and this cold was lingering. was not going to go but ray said to go and lay down a time to work on. then tessa turned up which meant i had to make an effort. damn. really surprised. good to see lots of esoccers there.

Road running 1:54:00 [3] 13.5 mi (8:27 / mi)

still have a bit of a cold - sore sinuses - but this was really nice. walton on the hill, bansted common, north downs way, box hill and back an alternative route to make a loop. seriously undulating and exceptionally muddy. we were slipping all over the place in trainers, hence the poor mins/mile. great to do this as in april i did this but only managed part of it before turning back with bad achillies. today i had no such problem, though my glutes were hurting at the end and they had been fine recenrly.
