Orienteering - race 37:56 [3] 4.4 mi (8:37 / mi)

Auchingarrich sol 4 short blue.

This forest is such fun all races should be here. I've never got to the green bit before as once I think I stopped with cannaebearseditis, and another time I scratched my eye so badly with my first step in the forest I actually went to a&e. anyway, this time I finally got there. Lucky me. It was such fun.

1 - just sort of straight
2 - up the ride and just sort of straight through the green, which was fine. A bit off line and adjusted off the rocky knoll nearby.
3 - down the ride and straight through the green to the control
4 - straight to the thicket, which I couldn't see on the map.
5 - weird. I'd have mapped this closer to the hill, and maybe as a pit or crag. 30secs lost here
6,7 - nailed them
8 - good
9 - things went a bit off in the forest here, but the contours fitted so I kept going and got it.
10 - easy
11 - a bit left but fine
12 - easy
13 - not exactly tricky but everything else had been going so well I was getting sloppy. Hence 90 deg error. I'll put it on route gadget when I get a mo. good relocation practice!

The rest was easy but I was waking up a lot of these controls which is a bit annoying. I always run off before the bleep.

Fun fun fun. That mistake was the biggest time loss in a race so far this year (
5mins)Nice race to make it in.

Orienteering - race 34:30 [3]

Not sure if it counts as a race but fun at a tinto Tuesday night event. Carmichael estate. Straight course on a modern map, but you also had to get as many score controls on a 1750 map as poss. The old map wasn't the problem so much as the fact that the grounds / gardens etc had changed beyond all recognition. Barbecue after. Great time had by whole family. Thanks tinto.

Achillies ok-ish but I am worried about soleus. It aches not in a good way.
