Fvo night event. Polmaise.
I go night oing as it is great training for me. My technique very much relies on working out where I need to be in relation to the features I can see. In the dark you can't see much so it stops me getting away with being sloppy. Except on nights like tonight, when I'm sloppy anyway. Lots of muppetry. Lots of finding fences, orientating the map, and trying to find out where on earth I was. Lots of 90 degree errors. Then the second half was marginally better navigation. But the muppetry went on, as I got the lines between the controls wrong and did one control twice.
Felt strong and fit and running mainly pain free - with the exception of the hill of brambles in the middle of the course which was painful for all - which is massively exciting for me. I don't mind calf cramp all the time in training as long as I have hope that I might be able to race pain free in the forest. So I am a very bloody, muddy, happy muppet!
Thanks for the courses tessa!
