Orienteering - race 1:20:00 [3] 8.2 mi (9:45 / mi)

Linn of Tumml SOL - Brown 8.2k with 510m climb.

Lovely area, with great views. The top of the hill wasnMt too heathery either - lovely. Number 9 seemed a bit low for me, and I dropped time here, but it was a lovely jaunt. Didn’t really feel like I was pushing hard at any point in the race. It was interesting though. I need to do some serious agility before Balmoral, but otherwise it felt ok.

Orienteering - training 27:50 [3] 3.5 mi (7:57 / mi)

Interlopers CATI at Almond Park in Livingston. I was told at the start that Angus Ivory had done 28 mins, so I made sure I got under that, though I was tired and it was a big effort. Pooped. Achilles not at all happy.

Road running 51:50 [3] 6.8 mi (7:37 / mi)

Tiring full on day with the kids at the science festival. Really sleepy but went out when Ray got home and felt vaguely better.

Tempo run 39:00 [3] 5.16 mi (7:34 / mi)

Arthur’s seat time trial. 17:38. Last month was 17:53 so still coming down. Pleased, as training last month suffered from niggles.

Trail running 30:21 [3] 3.25 mi (9:20 / mi)

Home from work via the bog, then co-op. I thought running might be the nicer option in the shite slush. It was again horrid.

I was wearing my cab and noticed it still had a whistle in from Monday. The weather was so hideous, I could envisage actually having to use it if I fell in the bog.
12 PM

Trail running 56:16 [3] 7.1 mi (7:56 / mi)

Is it snow? Is it rain? Is it sleet? Who knows. It’s horrible and it is coming in horizontally though. Just vile.

JK Relay

Senior women. Another slippy slide in the same forest. I couldn't face putting on my mud-soaked o-shoes so ran in my clean-ish x-talons which made things interesting. Best bit was going 1-2 I ran over a track, just as Lucy (who had been very scared of running - its a white Lucy, you'll be fine. But it says here yellow mummy. Well maybe its a whitey-yellow...) was running up the track, and stopped me to tell me how well she was doing, and she was here on the track and had just been to 6 and was on her way to 7, and it was fun. Scrappy for the rest, but a well planned relay I though.

I was last leg and had serious problems seeing my incoming runner though. Laurence and Lucy had even more problems. Lucy had never done a big relay before, so didn't realise you had to change over. Laurence couldn't see her coming in as it was such a badly laid out changeover, and he was stuck behind some adults. So Lucy came in and ran to the finish and downloaded, with Laurence still in the changeover box. Ray was watching, so eventually managed to get word to Laurence that he should just go, but it was very chaotic. A long thin changover would have helped, or a spectator loop, or a changeover at the top of a hill. Not impressed. The mist did not help.

I got the 'best JK performance' trophy which I found surprisingly touching. I am not reconciled to W40 yet, and my feelings over the W40 win are mixed, but this is quite a cool trophy to get your name on.
