Trail running 1:13:49 [3] 8.3 mi (8:54 / mi)
another pre-7am start. Followed Peter’s advice and headed to the countryside, and this was cracking. Armed with my phone and it’s OS app I took a long bridleway to Out Wood. Thought this would be muddy (everywhere is flooded here) but it had quite a firm surface. Which meant after about half a mile when it went uphill, the path turned into a river. Got quite close to the top of Beacon Hill but there was a bit of a creepy guy in the woods and the paths here were tediously muddy, so I turned around and headed to a permissive path. This was a lovely, quiet trip through the woods and fields, but involved crossing a stream twice that was a raging torrent, and I had a bit of a change of route due to not wanting to plough through a field of calves, and I picked up a few nettle stings. Lovely though, just lovely. Back through out wood, which had lots of permanent controls and must be pretty good for orienteering as I found it quite disorientating.
Felt really good. Might have to try morning running more often.
