Off-road running 39:48 [3] 3.73 mi (10:40 / mi)

HBT handicap. Ill but I agreed to go around with Laurence (Arthur’s Seat, he hates the dogs). Lucy set off 4 mins ahead. It goes from Haggis Knowe, around the bottom of the crags on the grass to the col, drinks point, back through the right of the bof to HK, up the dry dam and over to Dunsapie and down to the wall path for a drinks point then down to St Margaret’s Loch and a bit of hoopla then the finish.

Laurence went well to the first drinks point, then struggled with the fizziness of the lemonade. On the second climb we caught Lucy. She was near the top so I waited for her, as she likes gubbing me on the descent. Caught her again going around dunsapie, but when we got to the 2nd drinks point they had run out of lemonade so she nipped past me to finish ahead. :-(

Trail running 50:00 [3] 5.0 mi (10:00 / mi)

After a stressful day (up all night with the kids, slept in, panic rush for first day at school), I was looking for excuses to skip my WASP (Arthur’s Seat, hilly run with fast people) debut, but none came up so I turned up anyway.

Man it was tough! Really, really tough. I very nearly died. But next week can’t be as bad can it, so I’ll be going back.
