Note

Just setting off for a morning walk with Laurence when both of my calves started pinging. Strange tightenings. So We didn’t bother.

Orienteering - race 37:51 [3] 4.4 mi (8:36 / mi)

North Berwick Law orienteering - Light green

Another ELO special, on an area I haven’t been on before. Lots of fun. Number 2 might have possibly been in the wrong place but I found it easily. Number 4 feature needs to be shifted a touch west and down the hill a bit. Took a swim along with half the field in the marsh 10-11. It wasn’t obvious that you were allowed to cross the wall, until you started swimming. Read the map? Ain’t nobody got no time for that!

Mispunched on 17. Saw a control, punched it. Tbh I didn’t think there were any other places to hang a control on around there so was surprised to mispunch. Lots of fun, and just about quicker than Laurence by the skin of my teeth!

Note

Sore TFL so just walking. To Morningside and back in the morning for Friday brunch club (Salt Cafe, Ray’s current number 1, not sure about me) but I was pushing the buggy most of the way so missed out on loads of steps.

Then in the afternoon I tried running and it was too sore so I walked around queens drive instead. I had no idea the cycling was so competitive around queens drive, but there were lots of serious cyclists and Peter. Good entertainment trying to spot him. I waved at the wrong person twice. He must have thought that I was a total nutter.

Road running 24:29 [3] 3.13 mi (7:49 / mi)

I was going celebrate Bertie’s 6 months by doing my first reps session but that was sprung on me last night unfortunately. Got to have a goal though, and sub-8 min miling is a good one. Up to the meadows, round and back is exactly 5k. Ray and Loz got 21:04 last week. Thought I’d give it a go, and snuck under the 8 mins by not a lot. My TFL hurt throughout but hey ho. It eased slightly during the run. I’m off to show Bertie half an apple cake then eat it in front of him. I’m not sure he’s allowed it yet.

Road running 58:30 [3] 6.12 mi (9:34 / mi)

Trotettes with Kata. Stocksbridge

Big group tonight. Good fun to see so many there, even if there was a cheeky reps session thrown in. I realised that I really really can’t run fast on the flat just now. My pelvis just doesn’t allow it. Uphill marginally better.

Road running 1:07:11 [3] 7.71 mi (8:43 / mi)

From Meggetland. The Tuesday Lucy football window is 90mins which gives me more scope for longer runs. The pay off is that if you set off at the start of the 90mins you HAVE to make it a long one otherwise you will freeze to death waiting for her afterwards in the car (no I don’t believe in sitting with the engine idling and the heating running. It is also I believe illegal in Scotland).

Headed through Oxgangs to Fairmilehead then down past the Hermitage to Astley Ainsley, Bruntsfield Links and back via Gilmore Place. Like most of my runs just now - felt good at the outset then niggles set in. Getting further before the niggles though so that’s good.

B seems to have forgotten that nighttime is for sleep. He just flatly refuses to sleep from about 1-4. He laughs his head of for three hours as we try to sleep. It’s quite rowdy. Better than crying though.

Physio - general S&C 45:00 [3]

Jills session

Makes me feel more like a pensioner each time I do it. My body just does not have a full range of motion that early. But I do think it has helped my general aches and pains a lot. I do feel like I am able to run a bit now, which is nice.
