Orienteering - training 1:00:00 [3] 4.0 mi (15:00 / mi)

Blackford Green course MapRun with Freya M and Loz.

It was Lucy’s birthday and she suggested a MapRun (this is weird behaviour for her, but hey, lockdown). We are Freya, Megan and Eilidh’s support bubble which is great news. Megan told me that Freya was not really experienced enough for a green but she was more than capable, with her and Loz taking turns to navigate. She’s bloody quick too but given her parentage it’s not surprising. Lucy and Eilidh did the orange. Running in these crappy Edinburgh areas is a good way to boost confidence so worthwhile. Then all home for more Lucy-like behaviour of playing in the attic, watching films and eating crisps, pizza, cakes etc etc.

Off-road running 55:00 [3] 5.5 mi (10:00 / mi)

Left Lucy with a sleeping Bertie and headed out to AS mid afternoon. It was very wet. I felt shockingly crap but it was good to get out.

Note

Went for a long walk in the sleet with the kids in the afternoon. I think we can all agree that it was a shite way to spend the afternoon. We are just going to sit infront of the telly arguing over what to watch next time.

Note

Mooched around the meadows with the kids. Running is limited as I get up at 5:45 after a few hours scattered sleep, then work 6-1, then the kids need some fresh air or they will actually throttle each other (Laurence and Lucy that is, Bertie at 8 months old is yet to buy into the sibling tradition of winding/ beating each other up at any / every opportunity), then by the time we have mooched around in the rain / sleet we’re all frozen, we warm up, then make dinner then Bertie goes to bed and I plough back into work until late. Feeling v unfit but there isn’t anything much I can do about it until schools (or at least nurseries) start back.

Road running 1:05:47 [3] 7.22 mi (9:07 / mi)

Around queens drive and down the innocent railway and up Priestfield Road, pushing the buggy. The running buggy is really a cycling trailers and very substantial indeed and it totally exhausting to run with. But it was my only chance for a run today and despite getting up at 6 after not much sleep at all I had the energy for it at the outset so really had to make the most of it.

Then got back and found out Lucy’s football training had been cancelled. I’m not surprised. I wasv surprised it was still on but the team is U11 so they can actually meet. Glad I don’t have to spend the evening freezing at Meggetland.
