FVO local event. Beecraigs. Blue

It’s been an exhausting week and after I felt good on Wednesday I haven’t been able to get a run in since. And today it was warm and muggy and I felt shite and duffed the first three and struggled to get into the rest.

I ran straight on 4 and 6 as we had been practicing going straight at the junior training I helped coach just before. I lost a minute on each. The nearby paths unsurprisingly were quicker.

Fastest split on the grotfest that was 17. If sat on your arse and leaned back sufficiently you were able to duck under the buckthorn to the control. Top tip.

Wrong side of Colin W, Ray, Chris and Fraser in the results alas.

Orienteering - race 37:29 [3] 3.62 mi (10:21 / mi) +80m 9:41 / mi
ahr:144 max:169

Got my forest fix thanks to FVO at Falkirk Wheel. Scrappy to 1 and 2, ran past 8 by quite a way and had to come back, and couldn’t find 12. Ah well. On the right side of the M16s with the usual exception. Map on my strava (which I don’t know how to link to). Well planned course. Felt quite good for once, although still no effort manned on the warm up and as a result felt dire on the first hill.

Back in the Burgh next week when Laurence is hosting a sprintelope. Be there, our house, at the usual time.

There is some guy who clearly takes himself quite seriously who keeps setting up random Strava segments near Ray’s parents house. It really pisses him off when they get taken by anyone but him, so we often try to do just that when we are down. We strung some together to make a mini enduro today, and it was a lot of fun.

Note

Trip to Greenwich to learn about time etc. Best bit of the day - Laurence - a nice lunch and seeing ludicrous Apprentice candidates being filmed trying to sell stuff (we didn’t buy), Lucy - that the planetarium was shut.
