Sunday May 19 #

Note

The long drive back. And I am flatly refusing to do any more trips south this year. Dear god no. So sick of crawling into bed at 11:30 on a Sunday night to set the alarm for 6:45…

8 AM

Trail running 39:17 [3] 3.94 mi (9:58 / mi) +31m 9:44 / mi

South Wales for a wedding. Drove to Tewksbury premier inn, got there midnight, got up at 8 am went to the parkrun - which was cancelled for some fucking dog show. FFS. Ray and I took a trip through some fields. Nice route but so many kissing gates which were not fun with a massive running buggy. And then there was a couple of hundred metres of sheer jungle near the end.

Then mad scramble to the wedding in time. One of the advantages of being Scottish not a cross between Welsh and N Irish would be local weddings, but then again an EU passport is pretty handy.

Gymnippers Queens Drive with wee boulangerie thrown in as I had time. Will try KF instead next week.

Stretching 20:00 [3]

Took the day off work for lots of reasons but mainly cause Ray decided we were going to paint the siting room ages ago and moved all the furniture to a heap in the middle and locked the door to stop B getting in. I wanted to do my strength and stretching again and that wasn’t going to happen unless we got on with the painting and we didn’t have as my much as a spare 10 mins for weeks. So I took the day off and spent most of the day painting. By the time I’d got B to bed and cooked dinner the paint was dry, so I moved the furniture back, got on the rug, whacked the telly on and did stretching. Nice.

And the painting does look good!

XC / road / hill race 30:54 [3] 3.76 mi (8:13 / mi) +47m 7:55 / mi
ahr:152 max:161

Running depressingly slowly around N Berwick sprintelope.

Very few painkillers are effective for my neural toe pain and they all come with lots and lots of side effects which do wear off apparently. But currently I have drowsy, bad stomach issues, lack of coordination, blurred vision, weight gain and still v sore toes. The joys. But hopefully we’ll get the medication to full strength, the side effects will settle down and the pain might go away…

In the meantime I’m running like a figgy pudding though which is not good.

Lovely run in the Pentlands with Alison and Sadsh. Route mainly dictated by turf zones :-)
