Orienteering - race 42:54 [3] 3.74 mi (11:28 / mi)
ahr:147 max:171

Scottish orienteering relay champs

Some lovely Roseisle fun. Not many mistakes but stood at number 2 or 3 for ages checking that my gaffle really was all the way up there whereas others had some at the bottom of the hill. Dropped time at 5. Didn’t see the massive track at 17 (still haven’t worked out why not…) so beat through the ‘impenetrable’ broom. Impenetrable really did depend on mindset.

I had a LOT of fun racing John Embrey from where I caught him at 10-ish but he burned me off up the run in. For the last time John, for the last time!

12 PM

Trail running 4:44 [3] 0.39 mi (12:08 / mi) +17m 10:42 / mi
ahr:115 max:127

I was going to run to the start - then it got hilly

Orienteering - race 1:08:51 [3] 5.48 mi (12:34 / mi) +71m 12:05 / mi
ahr:151 max:164

Scottish champs - 3rd

And 3rd is much better than I deserved for a truly woeful performance. Mistakes include:

1 - very odd around here. 30 secs
2. Where was the 2 coontour hill? 45secs
7. I was racing Jen and this distracted me. Got offline then corrected then could not see the control! 1 min.
9. 2 mins. Wasn’t really sure how to approach this as the rides / paths were non-existent. Must have just missed it and kept going.

Running by myself finally for a bit and enjoying not being distracted and orienteering well for a bit.

18. Got the wrong track in the middle. After standing and checking and rechecking my map for a whole here. My compass was spinning a bit so no help but a chunky 2 mins here.

20. A thicket when the whole slope was one big unmapped thicket? Wrong to put a control here. 2 mins of scrapping around.
21. Another rubbish control. 1 min.

9:15 in big mistakes. Other little mistakes getting offline too. And the pills still making me feel like I am on a ferry the whole time. I sort of list a bit when walking around. Not helpful.

But a nice course in a mainly glorious forest, so no complaints. A fun day out.

Stretching 15:00 [3]

Strengthening 20:00 [3]

9 AM

Road running 33:49 [3] 3.75 mi (9:01 / mi) +116m 8:14 / mi
ahr:141 max:155

Gymnippers sprint.

Felt terrible but pace was ok. Arse was sore - tendinitis still rumbling on since January. Couldn’t wait for the hill to come (shorter stride = less arse pain) which is rare for me.

7 PM

Intervals - long endurance 45:53 [3] 4.29 mi (10:42 / mi) +216m 9:15 / mi
ahr:127 max:150

Some trotter training reps type thing, on Castro which was ankle deep in standing water, which is rare for a wide grassy hill. Damp. Felt truly terrible. Nice

Which is about all I can managed. Increased dosage of drugs and my coordination seems to be shot. Can’t even type at work. Useless

Run home to see if my legs were working. Pleasantly surprised.
